The Blood Fountain

"Come," she said as she beckoned the girl toward the fountain, and as though she were
hypnotised, Chrishankhah rose with little effort despite her weakness. They both stood
open to it then, facing it as though it were some focal point to their discussion. "I am told
you know of my secret. I can see it in you." Then the woman reached out and touched the
water that fell from the stone dragon's mouth... A strange thing happened as she did.

The water seemed to shift like liquid glass, a fluid shadow, and Chrishankhah could just
scarcely see through the weak light that the water had changed colour. It was red,
undoubtedly, purely red. Red as wine, red as...blood. And more impressively, it did not
wash out as the water continued to fall. Instead, it continued to flow red, as though it had
always been red, as though the spring from which it came was always red. As though
water itself had always been red...

...For Chrishankhah possessed a stone fountain, a dragon perched atop of it that spat
water from its mouth. And ever after that night, the fountain was changed. It was a spring
not of water but of weak blood, weak vampiric blood that would always remind her of the
one who made her what she was.

The source of the mysterious spring... Now that's another story.
